The goal of this research is to understand why some people who have an abdominal organ transplant do well and others do not do as well.

Blood samples are collected from transplant recipients pre-transplant, post-transplant (1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, and yearly thereafter), and at the time of indication biopsies. When possible, urine or tissue samples may also be collected. By collecting blood and tissue samples on people who have had or may have an abdominal transplant, we are able to conduct research studies to improve our understanding of transplantation.

Adult UPMC patients who have had or who will have an abdominal (liver, kidney, pancreas, intestine, or a combination of these) transplant are being asked to participate.
