Exciting and elegant work published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) from the lab of Matt Nicotra!

The research, led by graduate student Aidan Huene, reports the discovery of V-set Ig domains in the marine invertebrate Hydractinia symbiolongicarpus. The work reveals that this domain, which was essential to the evolution of vertebrate immunity, was present in animals much earlier than previously thought.
